MTV Asian Music Awards 2008

The 2008 MTV Asia Awards will be held on August 2 and the host country will be Malaysia. I checked out their website www.mtvasiaawards.com to look at the Korean page and darn, it was all written in Korean. Well, what did I expect?

Anyway, the nominees this year for Favorite Artist-Korea are two boybands, Big Bang and Super Junior, and two girlbands, Girls Generation and Wondergirls.

Big Bang has dominated the concert scene, with impressive ticket sales and high-grossing concert tours.

Super Junior is multi-awarded, having won everything from being the best new group, then best male group, having a good song, good album, good faces, for being photogenic (thought that was onlyin pageants), for being the best pretty boy and the list goes on.

Girls Generation has sold an impressive number of singles and albums in a short time, climbing up charts fast and getting star status in less than a year after their debut.

Wondergirls has got the whole country hooked on their “Tell Me” phenomena and despite low sales they have good standing in terms of popularity and visibility.
